K.D. Satyam Biography

K. D. Satyam is a highly acclaimed film director and screenwriter of Indian movies known for making award winning movies. He wrote the screenplay of 2012 movie, Gattu, which joined the list of India’s Oscar Nominations in 2012. The movie directed by Rajan Khosa and produced by Children's Film Society, India received many international awards at Berlin Film Festival and Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles. His directorial ventures include 2009 movie Fox (making director), 2010 movie Admissions Open and the upcoming movie - Bollywood Diaries, which stars Raima Sen, Ashish Vidyarthi and Salim Diwan in title roles. Raima Sen is to play a Sonagachi sex worker in this upcoming movie.

 

Satyam was born in 1977 in Bhilai, district of Durg, Chhattisgarh. After graduating from Annamalai University in the year 2000, he completed Master’s in Film Direction from Zee Institute of Media Arts. Satyam started his film career by directing short films. Colours of Cinema and Hell or Heaven – were his short films. In 2009 he associated with Deepak Tijori for Fox, followed by Admissions Open in 2010, which marked his debut as an independent film director. But it was through the screenplay of Gattu in 2012, he gained recognition for the first time. The film won two awards at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles.

 

His debut film - Admissions Open in 2010 had a talented star cast of Anupam Kher, Aashish Vidyarthi and Ankur Khanna. The movie was produced by Mohd Israr Ansari and camera work done by Madhu Rao. The movie was panned by the critics and was a box office failure. Its music was composed by Amit Trivedi.
