Juhi Babbar Biography

Juhi Babbar is a successful television actress. She has also acted in a few Bollywood movies. She has directed one play named Pukar in 2007 for CRY (Child Rights and You) that was based on child labour. She is the daughter of veteran actor, Raj Babbar and his first wife, Nadira Babbar. His brother, Arya Babbar and half-brother, Prateik Babbar (son of Raj Babbar and Smita Patel) are Bollywood actors. She married film maker cum screenwriter Bejoy Nambiar in 2007 and got divorced one and a half year later. Later she married television personality, Anup Soni, a divorcee in 2011.

Juhi Babbar was born on July 20, 1979 as the daughter of Raj Babbar and theatre personality, Nadira. When she was a child, Raj Babbar left the family to get married to his co-actress, Smita patel. But when she died after giving birth to Prateik Babbar, Raj returned back to his family. She made her film debut in Kash Aap Hamare Hote opposite Sonu Nigam. The movie flopped terribly at box office breaking the dreams of both its leading stars. In 2005, her second movie was released. The Punjabi movie titled, Yaara Naal Baharan did fairly well at box office. She was paired opposite Bollywood actor, Jimmy Shergill. Yet she didn’t continue to work on movies. Instead she turned her direction to theatre work and television.

In 2005, she did a silent movie opposite Mohanlal – Reflections. The movie was directed by Malayali director, Bejoy Nambiar whom she married two years later. In 2006, she appeared in Uns: Love forever. She is to return to Bollywood with her comeback movie – It’s my life, where she does supporting role. Now she is a part of comedy show of NDTV – Ghar ki baat hai. In 2010, she received Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Rashtriya Puraskar (Under 35 category) for her contributions to Indian arts and theatre.
