Joshna Chinappa Biography 
Joshna Chinappa was an Indian sportswoman who practices the game of squash. She has won many international titles and has the world rank of 32 as of November 2012.
Joshna was born on 15th September 1986 in Chennai in Tamil Nadu. Her father’s name is Anjan Chinappa and her mother’s name is Sunita. She started playing the game of squash from her age of seven. She started practicing at the Madras Cricket Club.
She belongs to a family of players and her great grandfather, Field Marshal K. M. Cariappa who was the first commander in chief in the Indian army was a squash player and her father also has represented Tamil Nadu in the game many times. At her age of 14, she became the Youngest Senior National Champion. She was coached by Malcolm Willstrop.
She also continued her education and completed her schooling at Lady Andal’s School and completed her graduation in English at the Ethiraj College at Chennai. She is sponsored by Lakshmi Mittal’s Champion’s Trust.
She entered the world level competition in Under 13 category and got the title at the Scottish Junior Open, the first ever Indian to grab it. She then got the third position in the Australian Junior Open and won two titles at the British Junior Open. She also won the individual as well as team gold medal in the SAF Games in April 2004. She is the youngest girl in India to become the Women’s National Champion, the title she got at her age of 14.
She has been honored by the Indian Squash Professionals founded by Mahendra Agarwal. In May 2012, she won the Chennai Open defeating the Sarah Jane Perry of England.
