John Vijay Biography

John Vijay is a Tamil film actor known for portraying supporting roles. He played the comic role of Nuclear Star Boomesh (Film star) in the most recent release - Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, which was a sleeper hit. Raavanan, Oram Po and Thillalangadi are other noted appearances. His role as “Sun of Gun” in ‘Oram Po’ was a huge hit among youngsters and remembered for its dialogues. The role of the Chennai auto driver with Thoothukudi accent Tamil earned him more film roles as well. He has played both positive and negative shaded roles in his career.

He was born in 1976. He is married to Madhavi Ilangovan, daughter of Minister TKS Ilangovan. John is the chief of 'H2O', an advertising agency of Nungambakkam and also works as the head programme director of Radio One FM. He started off doing television shows for Apt TV and later did his own ad films. Then he joined Radio One and at the same time he got film offers as well. He balances well with his film career and radio. Thalaimagan in 2006 marked his big screen debut.

Yet it was his second release Oram Po, in which he played an auto driver, made him a star. His catchy dialogues in Thoothukudi accent became huge hit in college campuses and critics also well praised his role. There was no turning back after that and very soon, he became a popular character artist of Tamil cinema. Mani Ratnam’s Raavanam was his next noted role. He played the role of Hemanth Shankar in the movie. Later he played negative roles in Mouna Guru and Masala Café.
