Joe Malloori Biography

Joe Malloori is a noted Tamil film actor known for portraying negative roles most. He has been a writer before his foray to movies. He made his debut in Prabhu Solomon's Kumki (2012), where he played the role of Maathayaan, the tribal leader which brought him critical acclaim. His latest movie is Puli, starring Vijay. Since his debut, he has regularly appeared in Tamil films - Jannal Oram, Jilla, Tenali Raman, Rummy, Puli, Strawberry, Kaaka Muttai, Mosakutty, Irumbu Kuthirai and Anjaan to name a few. China and Sanda Kozhi-2 are his upcoming projects.

 

He currently resides in Chennai. Joe Malloori has been a writer and poet in Tamil language before he entered films. He has also written scripts of documentaries like Paal Nilappaadhaiyil. In 2012, he made his film debut through Kumki, which was a box office hit. He received critical acclaim for his character role as well. Before Kumki happened, he completed an acting course and he couldn’t get a good career in the entertainment industry. Later he worked for two years as an assistant in video production for K. G. Jesas and later worked under many personalities for a few years. He mostly worked on song sequences.

 

Though he asked for a dance sequence in Myna, Prabhu later gave him his first break in the form of Kumki. Though he had a long break from acting, it was Prabhu who encouraged him to take up the role. He played heroine’s father in this movie who follows the strict traditions. He played villain in Mosakutty and Rummy. As a writer, he has written 14 books till now. In his opinion, with the new millennium many new writers have come up.
