Jitendra Singh Biography

Jitendra Singh is an active politician from India. Currently he is the Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports (Independent charge) and the Minster of State for Defense, Government of India. He holds the charge since 28 October 2012. Formerly, Jitendra Singh was the Minister of State for Home Affairs till July 2011. Jitendra was elected from Alwar constituency of Rajasthan as an Indian National Congress candidate. He is a member of the royal family of Alwar.

Jitendra Singh was born on June 12, 1971 at New Delhi to Yuvraj Shri Pratap Singh & Yuvrani Mahendra Kumari. His grandfather, Sir Tej Singh Prabhakar KCSI was the last ruling Maharaja of Alwar. He was also the last living member of the Order of the Star of India, who died in 2009. After the death of his grandfather Jitendra Singh succeeded as the Head of the Royal House of Alwar. Jitendra Singh married Ambika Devi Sahiba, daughter of Raja Brijendra Singh of Dada-Siba in 1994. She is the granddaughter of L. K. Jha, former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and former Ambassador to the USA. The couple has three children.

Jitendra Singh did his schooling at Wynberg Allen at Mussorie. He took degree in Commerce from the University of Delhi. After graduation he studied Automobile engineering from Germany. He was elected for the first time to Rajasthan Legislative Assembly in the year 1998 where he represented Alva constituency. He was elected for second term from the same constituency in 2004. In 1007, he was appointed as Secretary of All India Congress Committee where he assisted Rahul Gandhi. In 2009, he reached parliament for the first time, once again from his favourite Alva constituency.
