Jenuse Mohamed Biography

Jenuse Mohamed is a young film director associated with Mollywood. He made his directorial debut through 2015 romantic comedy 100 Days of Love featuring the popular south Indian pair - Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen in the lead roles. The movie opened to positive reviews, though it was an average grosser at box office. Jenuse is the son of the famous and veteran film director of Malayalam, Kamal, who has given some trendsetter movies to Malayalam cinema since 1980s, and the biggest tribute to ‘Father of Malayalam Cinema’ through Celluloid in 2013. Jenuse completed his film direction course abroad and assisted a few directors in Malayalam before he made his directorial debut in 2015.  

Jenuse is quite a rare name. He was born to the talented film director of Malayalam, Kamal who has told some simple tales on relationships in his distinct style which ponders many nostalgic moments to film viewers of 1980s and 1990s. Kamal is a very successful and highly talented director of Malayalam cinema since late 1980s, he is still making award winning and critically acclaimed movies. Since childhood, the world of movies charmed him and he enjoyed watching movies of different genres. He decided to follow his father’s steps and moved abroad where he completed studies in film direction from London Film School. He also studied at GRD College, Coimbatore.

After completion of course, he assisted Ashiq Abu in 22 Female Kottayam, Lal Jose in Ayalum Njanum Thammil and his dad Kamal in Celluloid and Nadan. All these movies have been major critical successes and commercially successful too, except Nadan. He finalized the lead pair of National Award winning movie – Ustaad Hotel for his film, 100 days of love. The refreshing love story was youth oriented and did average business. Same year Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen also played lead pair in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil release – OK Kanmani, which was also a commercial and critical success.
