Jayaprakash Biography

Jayaprakash is a successful film actor of Tamil cinema, also known as a producer. He is known for portraying supporting and character artist roles and his most popular roles include - Pasanga, Chennaiyil Oru Naal, Naadodigal, Vamsam, Bale Pandiya, Yuddham Sei, Naan Mahaan Alla and Mankatha. He entered Film industry in the early 2000’s as a producer and his acting debut happened with the movie, Mayakannadi directed by Cheran. The movie was released in 2007. Subsequently he started appearing in character roles and became successful as well.

Sirkazhi is his hometown, but his family originally hails from Maharastra. He speaks Marathi at home. Jayaprakash has been in the field of business since early days and he has tried diversified products like dairy farm and transport before entering film production business. He started the banner GJ Cinema in the early 2000’s and has also produced a few movies in the late 1990’s under the banner, Roja Combines. As a producer his movies include -April Maadhathil, Gopala Gopala, Thavasi, Porkkaalam, Julie Ganapathi, Chellamae, Varnajaalam and a few more. He became an actor by chance and after noticing positive response from others, he started accepting more roles. It was Cheran of Autograph fame who discovered the acting skills of Jayaprakash. He was 45 when he accepted his first role as an actor.

At present he is one of the most wanted character artist of Tamil cinema. He was 45 when he accepted his first role as an actor. He received his first award as a supporting actor for the movie – Pasanga in 2009. The movie helped him to bag a couple of awards – Vijay award and prestigious Filmfare. He played the role of an honest village school teacher, Chokkalingam in this movie. There was no turning back after that and now he is a very actor of Kollywood.
