Javed Bashir Biography

Javed Bashir is a Pakistani singer who has sung a few popular Bollywood songs. He is one among those successful Pakistani singers who have made a distinct mark in Bollywood film industry as a playback singer. He has rendered his voice for many popular tracks of the Bollywood movies - Bajirao Mastani, Cocktail, Kahaani, Rush, Bombay Talkies, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara! Tera Naam Japdi Phiran of Cocktail, O Rangrez of Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Aaj Ibadat of Bajirao Mastani, Daak Ticket of Hawaizaada, Ye Tune Kya Kiya of Once Upon A Time in Mumbai Dobaara! and Murabba of Bombay Talkies are some of his chartbuster hits. He has regularly worked with lyricist Prasoon Joshi and composer Pritam.

 

Bashir was born in Lahore on 8 August 1973. His parents hail from Jalandhar, Punjab and own a music background. Bashir’s father Ustad Bashir Ahmed Khan was a Qawwal, from whom Bashir learnt music for the first time. Bashir started formal learning in music from his father in 1992 though he used to sing since young. He started his solo singing career in the year 2001. "Deewane Nachde" from the album Anything But Silent By "Bally Sagoo" was his first song.

 

He joined Mekaal Hasan Band very soon, which proved to be his major career break. He was a member of Sampooran, Mekaal Hasan Band's first full length album in 2004, which proved to be the turning point of his career. The track - "Chal Bulleya" released in 2009 became extremely popular. He also collaborated with Shankar Mahadevan for a musical project for Indo-Pak peace. He also sang in Coke Studio Season 2 and Season 7.
