Jaswinder Bhalla Biography

Jaswinder Bhalla is a noted actor and comedian associated with Punjabi film industry. He is also a professor at Punjab Agricultural University. His professional career as a comedian began in 1988 through Chhankata series, which made him extremely popular. Apan Phir Milange, Mel Kara De Rabba, Mahaul Theek Hai, Power cut, Kabaddi Once Again, Carry On Jatta, Jatt and Juliet, Jatt Airways, Jeeja Ji, Jihne Mera Dil Luteya etc are some of his popular film roles. Bhalla completed his PhD from Punjab Agricultural University, where he serves as a professor now. His taglines for movies with a comic touch have always become popular.

Jaswinder Singh Bhalla was born on 4 May 1960 in Doraha of district Ludhiana, Punjab into a Sikh family. His father worked as a primary school teacher. Jaswinder schooled from Senior Secondary School Doraha. After completing his PhD from Punjab Agricultural University, he started his career as a lecturer in the same university. He is a full-time professor now. Though associated with teaching career, he performed on stage during Independence Day and Republic day celebrations. As a student at school he got opportunity to perform in All India Radio at the age of 15. Even while studying at Punjab Agricultural University, he was regular with his comic shows and has performed for University programs.

He started his professional career in 1988, and released his first cassette Chhankata the same year. He performed aside his college classmate Bal Mukund Sharma since then. The duo was spotted by Doordarshan Kendra, Jalandhar. The duo later released 27 audio and video albums in Chhankata series. Chacha Chatur Singh is one of the popular characters of this series. His success in Chhankata series later give him numerous film offers. Now he is a well-established comedian of Punjabi cinema.
