Jandhyala Subramanya Sastry Biography 
Jandhyala Subramanya Sastry was a noted actor, producer and director of Telugu cinema. His full name is Jandhyala Veera Venkata Durga Siva Subramanya Sastry, born on 14 January 1951. He is also known as 'Hasya Brahma' Jandhyala. He has introduced many talented actors to film industry. Brahmanandam is one such leading name. He has won Nandi awards thrice and Filmfare awards twice. He won Nandi awards for Best Director - Ananda Bhairavi (1984), Best Story Writer - Padamati Sandhya Ragam (1987) and Best Dialogue Writer - Aapathbandhavudu (1992). In 1984, he won Filmfare Award for Best Director for the movie Srivariki Premalekha and in 1987, his movie Padamati Sandhya Ragam was given best movie award. Ananda Bhairavi is one of his best movies that has won National award.
He was born in 1951 at Narsapura as the son of Jandhyala Narayana Murthy. He graduated in commerce from Vijayawada. He was interested in stage plays since childhood and he was fascinated with the colourful costumes of mythological figures. He has also won several prizes during his academic years, for his stage acting. During college days, he was popular as a playwright. His first play was Atmahuthi and his next play Ek Din Ka Sultan was very popular which has been staged for more than 10,000 times. His last play was Gundelu Marchabadunu.
He never planned to enter film industry. It just happened. Actually he wanted to become a Chartered Accountant and even went to Chennai to receive training for CA exams. He entered the films as a lyricist through the film Punya Bhoomi Kallu Teru and as dialogue writer through Devudu Chesina Bommalu. However his work as dialogue writer of K. Vishwanath's Siri Siri Muvva permanently placed him in the film industry.
