Jamnadas Majethia Biography

Jamnadas Majethia, better known as JD in the entertainment industry is a very popular actor of Hindi television. He plays character roles most and quite successful as a comedy actor. He is a part of many popular sitcoms and has appeared in television ads. He is an established theatre artist also and is associated with Gujarati theatre for the last 20 years. He also works in Sindhi plays. He played the comic role of Himanshu Seth in Bollywood movie -   Khichdi: The Movie in 2010 which helped him to earn a nomination at Apsara awards for best comic actor. He was the producer of the movie as well. He produced several television serials. Most recently in 2013 he started his acting academy, HatsOff Actors Studios along with Aatish Kapadia.

JD worked with Mudra Communications for two years as marketing executive. He started his television career with Doordarshan serials in the early 1990s. He played the role of Malayketu in the popular Doordarshan series – Chanakya. He is quite active with theatre for the last 20 years. Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai, Karishma Kaa Karishma, Khichdi, Instant Khichdi and Baa Bahoo Aur Baby are some of his popular roles on television. He played the role of Himanshu Seth in the popular series Khichdi and its sequel. He also reprised the same role for his movie, Khichdi: The Movie which earned a nomination at IIFA for comic role. At present he is interested to do more experiments with his characters rather than repeating comic roles.

Khoobsurat (1999) is one of his earliest film roles in which he portrayed the role of Urmila’s elder brother. He co-produced 220 episodes of the daily soap Babul Ki Duwayien Leti Ja for Zee TV. He has participated in many live shows and is the winner of ‘Star Trek contest’. He is a popular face for television ads since 1990s and has modelled for more than 75 brands.
