Jai Kalra Biography

Jai Kalra is a popular actor who appears in Bollywood films as well as Hindi television serials. He is most known for the portrayal of villain’s role in television series - Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil of Star Plus, where he played the role of Rishab Rampal. The role of Vikram Shergil in Bade Achhe Lagte Hain of Sony television network is another noted one. He directed Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai of Star Plus and it’s still running successfully. Bhaskar Bharati of Sony TV is other noted television appearance of Kalra. In 2009, he received Best Actor in Negative Role for Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil at New Talent Awards. Jai has done a small role in Bollywood movie ‘Page 3’ for which he received appreciation.

Kalra is presently settled in Malad west, India. But his parents live in Toronto, Mississauga, Canada. He is married to Bhavana and has one daughter. Jai tries to avoid watching his own shows as his three year old daughter becomes upset seeing him with other actresses other than her mother and she feels irritated seeing other kids sitting in her father’s lap – Kalra reveals. Kalra is best known for his appearance in Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil on STAR Plus which marked his television debut as well. He played the role of villain in this television series.

In 2009, he directed STAR Plus Show - Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, which became immensely popular among television audience. Most recently it completed 1000 episodes and is the longest running show of STAR Plus. He also appeared in Bhaskar Bharti in 2009. But this show lasted for 6 months only.
