Jagdeep Singh Chhokar Biography 
Professor Jagdeep Singh Chhokar was born on November 25, 1944 in Kharar, a city and a municipal council in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar district in the state of Punjab in the family of Raghbir Singh and Chander Kala. He married Kiran Banga on May 7, 1975. He was consultant, Indian management educator (IIM), researcher, advocate, and engineer. Member Academy Management, Delhi Gymkhana Club, Army Golf Club (Ahmadabad). He was Graduate in Mechanical Engineering, Institution Mechanical Engineers, London, 1966; Graduate in Production Engineering, Institution Mechanical Engineers, London, 1967; Master of Business Administration, Delhi University, India, 1977; Doctor of Philosophy, Louisiana State University, 1983.
Professor Chokkar worked as Engineer and manager with Indian Railways from 1967 to1977. As a Marketing manager Projects in a public sector company Equipment Corporation, New Delhi from 1977 to 1980. As an Instructor in Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge from 1980 to 1984 and as a Professor of Indian Institute Management, Ahmadabad, since 1985. He worked as consultant from 1985 to 2006. Professional interests of Professor Chokkar covered almost all fields including management and organization, structure, management, design, and development.
Professor J.S. Chokkar had his special interest in development of human resources especially in cross-cultural management, international marketing and strategic management. He took special interested in management in government and public sector and industrial and occupational safety. Professor J.S. Chokkar has interests in electoral and political reforms, informed choice, bird watching and world affairs.
Professor J.S. Chokkar research has appeared in several national and international journals. He has contributed chapters to several edited books and also written several articles/chapters on teaching. Professor J.S. Chokkar has also written in business and popular press including The Times of India, The Hindu, The Economic Times, The Indian Express, The Financial Express, The Tribune, The Pioneer etc.
Despite being so busy he is member of the Indian Bird Conservation Network. He is regular bird watcher and a life member of the ‘Bombay Natural History Society’.
