Jagapathi Babu Biography

Jagapathi Babu is a popular actor of Telugu cinema. He has also appeared in a few Tamil movies and a single Kannada movie. He has received seven Andhra Pradesh state Nandi Awards. He was awarded with Kala Bhushana Award by TSR Lalitha kala Parishat of Andhra Pradesh for his contributions to Telugu cinema.

 
Jagapati Babu was born on 12 February 1962, to veteran producer-director V. B. Rajendra Prasad. He debut silver screen in the year 1989 with Telugu movie - Simha Swapnam. He received first Nandi awards in the year 1990 in the form of Special Jury award for the movie, Adavilo Abhimanyudu. He became a known face through the movie, Gaayum released in the year 1993, directed by Ram Gopal Varma. This movie gave him the best actor Nandi awards for the first time. After that he received nandi awards numerous times in leading and supporting roles. He received best actor award twice for the movies - Maavi Chiguru and Manoharam. In 1996, he received Nandi Special Jury Award for Shreekaram. He has won supporting actor award twice – in 1998 for Antahpuram and in 2007, for Lakshyam. He has also received Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award (Telugu) for Lakshyam.

 
In 2010, Gaayam 2 was released where he played the role of Ram. In 2011, he appeared as the antagonist in Tamil film Thaandavam. In 2012, he debuted in the Kannada film Bachchan as a cop. A few of the noted movies of Jagapati include - Jai Bolo Telangana, Hanuman Junction, Gopi - Goda Meedha Pilli, Siva Rama Raju, Nagaram Nidrapothunna Vela, Aaha, bachi, Budget Padmanabham, Samanyudu, Atade Oka Sainyam, Kushi Kushiga, Sandade Sandadi, That’s Pandu, Madrasi, Anukokunda Oka Roju,  Swagatam, Chattam, Maa Nanna Chiranjeevi, Siddham, Subhakankshalu, Bhale Dongalu, Pellaina Kothalo and Ravoyi Chandamam.
