Jacob Gregory Biography

Jacob Gregory is a popular comedian and character artist associated with Malayalam cinema in the recent times. He portrayed the character Gregory or 'Giri Giri' in the sitcom, Akkara Kazhchakal which made him a great sensation among Malayalam viewers. His curly hair and thoughtful face with some silly messages went viral over net and whatsapp, thus making him a popular star of 2015. He played the memorable role of Sachin’s clown in the 2014 Cricket movie – 1983, dedicated to Sachin Tendulkar on his retirement. He played the pivot role of NRI Korah (cousin of Dulquer Salmaan in ABCD). Ennum Eppozhum, Salalah Mobiles, ABCD, Akkarakazhchakal: The Movie, 1983, Bhaiyya Bhaiyya, 100 Days of Love and Lord Livingstone 7000 Kandi are some of his noted appearances on big screen.

Alappuzha is his hometown. But he is settled in Dumont, New Jersey, for the past 20 years. ‘Akkara Kazhchakal’, was Malayalam’s first online sitcom that narrates the tale of expatriate Malayalis living in US and Jacob Gregory portrayed the character Gregory or 'Giri Giri' which was an instant hit. He travelled across U.S., Canada and Europe and did more than 30 stage shows based on ‘Akkara Kazhchakal’ which completed 50 episodes or so. Martin Prakkat’s debut film ABCD - American Born Confused Desi marked his film debut, where he played second lead - Dulquer Salmaan’s cousin who reaches India with him. His debut role as Korah too was well-noticed.

He dressed in hip hop clothing favoured by African American youth, complete with bling, baseball cap and Afro haircut for the debut flick – ABCD which became an instant hit. His character added a few comedy elements as well. He is just like typical Americanised ‘desi’ shown in the film. He made a brief role as a cricketer Sachin for 1983. Though his role was short, it was sweet and he imitated Sachin Tendulkar in batting and mannerisms which earned him accolades.
