Ira Trivedi Biography

Ira Trivedi is an Indian novelist, yoga teacher, entrepreneur, and speaker. Her published books are What Would You Do To Save the World? (2006), The Great Indian Love Story (2009) and There is No Love on Wall Street (2011) that have been translated to several Indian languages. There is No Love on Wall Street has been translated to Greek and Spanish. She holds an MBA degree from Columbia Business School where she won the Feldberg fellowship and a BA in Economics from Wellesley College. She has been interviewed and has written columns in several leading publications including Times of India, Hindustan Times, India Today, The Hindu, DNA, Deccan Chronicle and Cosmopolitan. Her first book was published in the age of 19.

 

She started writing her first book at the age of 12. It was a detective novel inspired by her obsession with Agatha Christie. But she couldn’t complete it. Then she wrote – ‘What Would you do to Save the World?’ It was her first published book. It tells the story of a young girl’s experiences in the Miss India contest. Trivedi too had participated in Miss India contest while studying second year degree and this work was inspired by her real life interactions with the glamour world.

 

Her next book was a satire work - The Great Indian Love Story. This book too, was inspired from the people whom she met and her observations of society when she moved back to Delhi from New York. She always loved to read love stories and ‘Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchell’ and ‘Love in the Time of Cholera’ by Gabriel Garcia Marquez are her favourites. Author believes that romance writing has a great future in India. Trivedi tells the story of a pre-medical student who gives up the life of latex gloves for the charms of the Wall Street through her third book - There's no Love on Wall Street.
