Inder Raj Anand Biography

Inder Raj Anand was a famous scriptwriter, story writer and dialogue writer of Bollywood during 50’s to 80’s. His pen (as dialogue or script) has delivered numerous blockbusters to Bollywood including – Phoolom ke sej, Jawani diwani, Aah, Sasural, Safar, Bobby, Ek duje ke liye, Rakhwala, Humraahi, Asli naqli, Ghar ghar ki kahani, Prem nagar, Sangham, CID, New Delhi, Bahurani, Aina, Nagin, Chalia, Sapnom ka saudagar, Gai aur gori, Fasla, Mard, Kalia, raj Tilak, Anari and Julie.  

He has been associated with numerous films of Dev Anand and Raj Kapoor during 50’s and 60’s. He has written the scripts and dialogues of many of the hit movies of Big B during 80’s and 90’s. He has received Filmfare for best scriptwriter for the movie Sangham. One of his last hit movies was Shehanshah of Amitabh bachchan. It was one of the major hits of 1988 also. His contribution to Bollywood is about a collection of 120 films (as writer, dialogue writer and screenplay) and his name is always placed among the greatest scriptwriters of Bollywood. Many of his scripts were written in future perspectives and often regarded as classics. Shahenshah – starring Big B and Meenakshi Sheshadri was released after Anand’s death and it became one of the biggest hits of that year.

Raj kumar’s Aag was one of his earliest hits where he used his pen to write its script as well as its dialogues. As a screen writer and dialogue writer his other movies include – CID, Dulha dulhan, Beti beta, Humrahi, Bahurani, Choti bahan, Devi, Aasu aur muskaan and Upasana. He is always regarded as one among the greatest dialogue writers of Bollywood always. His big movies as a dialogue writer (only) include – Rekhwala, Nanha farista, Ghar ghar ki kahani, Haathi mere saathi, Vakil babu, Lovers, Chota bhai, Vasana, Mard, Jaani dushman, Ek duje ke liye, Aina (1977), Kaalia, Yeh hai zindagi, Humsakal, Nagin, Julie and Apna desh.
