Hemant Divate Biography

Hemant Divate is popular Marathi poet based on Mumbai. He is also known as an editor, translator and publisher. Chautishi Paryentchya Kavita, Thambtach Yet Nahi and Ya Roommadhe Aale Ki Life Suru Hote are his noted works. A few of his works have been translated to other languages by many authors. He is the founder-editor of the prestigious Marathi little magazine – Abhidhanantar which was active for 15 years. Hemant's publishing imprints - Abhidhanantar and Poetrywala have published many works of other authors including 45 poetry collections belonging to Marathi and English languages. Bharatiya Bhasha Parishad Award – Kolkata and Maharashtra Foundation Award (USA) are the major awards received by him. As a poet he has presented his works not only in India, but also in several international poetry and literature festivals including Europe and Latin America.

 

Hemant Divate is a noted Marathi poet from Maharashtra, currently based in Mumbai. He is also known as a publisher and translator who has translated many works belonging to other authors. Not only that his poems have also been translated to many Indian regional languages and foreign languages including French, Spanish, German, Urdu and Arabic. He is best known for the Marathi poetry works - Chautishiparyantchya Kavita and Thambtach Yet Nahi. Both works are regarded as the path-breaking poetry works of Marathi literature.

 

Chautishiparyantchya Kavita has been translted to many languages including English. Its English translation was done by Dilip Chitre titled the book Virus Alert. ‘A Depressingly Monotonous Landscape’ is the English translation of Thambtach Yet Nahi. Apart from being a noted writer and publisher, he has also serves as an advisor to many literary magazines in India.
