Harsha Bhogle Biography

Harsha Bhogle is an Indian cricket commentator who is working in journalistic industry as a freelancer.

 

Harsha was born on 19th July 1961 in Hyderabad in Andhra Pradesh. His father’s name is A.D. Bhogle and his mother’s name is Shalini Bhogle. His father is a French professor and his mother is a psychology professor. He has one elder brother Srinivas. He married Anita and has two sons Chinmay and Satchit. They live in Mumbai.

 

He completed his schooling at Hyderabad Public School and continued his degree in chemical engineering at Osmania University in Hyderabad. He then did his post graduation PGPM at Indian Institute of Management at Ahmedabad.

 

He started his career with an advertising company and after working for two years he shifted to sports management company. He joined All India Radio as a commentator when he was just 19 years old. He was invited to work as commentator during the 1992 Cricket World Cup by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

 

He worked as a part of the commentary team of BBC for eight years. He started presenting live cricket for ESPN STAR Sports from 1995. During 2011-12 series in Australia he worked for ABC Radio. He has covered all IPL seasons from 2009 and also work as a cricket analyst on CNN-IBN.

 

The Cricinfo users have voted him as the favorite television cricket commentator in a poll. During the 2008 IPL he served as the advisor to the Mumbai Indians. He has anchored the travel serial Travel India and Business Today Acumen Business Quiz and Debate competitions on BBC.

 

He has also penned and published many books that include the biography of the former cricketer Mohammad Azharuddin. He co-authored a book with his wife The Winning Way. He published his collection of articles titled Out of the Box.
