Haripriya Biography

Haripriya’s real name is Shruti. Haripriya is her screen name and she works in south Indian movies. She is also a trained bharatnatyam dancer. Chikkaballapura of Karnataka is her hometown. For the Kannada movie, Kallara Santhe released in 2009 she won a nomination at Filmfare for best actress. She has worked in all south Indian languages including Tulu and she debut with Tulu movie, Badi released in 2007 where she was credited as Shrutipriya.

Haripriya was born as Shruti on October 29, 1988 in Karnataka. Her schooling was done at Vidhya Mandir and later she completed her Pre-University Course. After that she shifted to Bangalore and studied Bharatnatyam. It was during this time when she got assignments and got into the acting role. Her grandfather too was a noted theatre personality. She used to participate in stage shows and programs and in one such occasion while studying in standard 12th, she got offer as female lead role in the Tulu film Badi, released in 2007. The following year she debut Kannada film industry with Manasugula Mathu Madhura, followed by Vasanthakala. But both movies were commercial failures, followed by Ee Sambhashane and Male Barali Manju Irali.  But the political satire, Kallara Santhe earned her a Filmfare nomination for Best Actress – one of her best performances till now. With the reelase of her next Kannada movie, Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu she became a popular Kannada actress.

In 2010, she entered Telugu and Tamil film industries with the movies - Thakita Thakita and Kanagavel Kaaka respectively. Thakita Thakita was a moderate hit. She debut Malayalam the following the year with Swami Manikanta. But it was Thiruvambady Thampaan released in 2012 which was her real break to Malayalam industry where she was casted opposite Jayaram. Her next Malayalam venture is Bhadrasanam, a sequel of hit movie, Anandabhadram (2005).
