Harbans Jandu Biography

Harbans Jandu, also known as Jandu Littranwala is a Punjabi composer and lyricist. He started writing lyrics in the year 1968. In ‘Des Pardes’ competition, out of 52 composers he turned first. The song was "Nachdi di Photo Kich Mundeya". He has penned lyrics for several Bhangra and Punjabi songs and has worked in association with Jazzy B, Sukhshinder Shinda, H-Dhami, Mahendra Kapoor, Kamaljit Neeru, Amrinder Gill, AS Kang, Kuldip Manak, Surinder Shinda, Balwinder Safri, Azaad, Alaap and many more. He has done both pop albums as well as devotional songs.

 

A few of hit songs are "Sardara",  "Soorma", “I love you” and "Jadu" by Jazzy B, "Mohabat Hogai"  and "Jithevi Jaan" by Azaad, "Giddhian Di Raniye" by AS Kang, Chan Mere Makhna by Balwinder Safri,  "Rajj Ke Palaa" by Jas Singh/Aman Hayer , Sadke Java by H Dhami and "Vang" and Taubah Taubah by ADH. He has also done several devotional songs like "Jakare Bholan Ge" and "Babe Nanak Di" by Jazzy B, "Ik Dhar Hai Babe Nanak Da” by Balwant Littranwala, "Amar Khalsa" by Pardesi and "Mata Gujri" by Balwinder Safri.

 

On 20 January 2009, he was honoured by Chief Minister of Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal, in Hoshiarpur, Punjab for his contribution to Punjabi music and promotion of the Punjabi language. He was given the Guest of Honour award at the Lal Chand Yamla Jatt Mela on 26 December 2008. As an artist he has received several international awards for music. He has been awarded Gold Medal for Best Lyricist several times at India, UK and Canada. Tricentury Khalsa Award Southampton - 1999, House Of Commons Cultural Award -2006, House of Commons Award Vaiskahi – 2007 and BBC Radio WM – 2004 are other major awards received by him.
