Hakim Syed Zillur Rahman Biography 
Hakim Syed Zillur Rahman is a physician known for his contributions to Unani medicine and treatment. He founded Ibn Sina Academy of Medieval Medicine and Sciences in 2000. He has served as a professor and administrator of several educational institutions and universities. Indian government conferred him with Padma Shri award in 2006 for his contribution in the field of Unani Medicine. He has authored 45 books and many papers on the subject of Unani. He has played a significant role in excelling Department of Ilmul Advia, Ajmal Khan Tibbia College and Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh under his leadership. He has received Urdu Academy Award by Government of UP, Lucknow several times. He has also received Certificate of honours for outstanding contribution to Persian Language in 1995, awarded by Indian president on Independence Day.
Rahman was born on 1 July 1940, at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. He was born in an intellectual family of many scholars. His grandfather Hakim Syed Karam Husain, father Hakim Syed Fazlur Rahman and uncle Hakim Syed Atiqul Qadir were famous Unani Physicians. He is married to Ahmadi Begum and the couple has 4 children. Their son Syed Ziaur Rahman has given significant contributions to Indian medicine and a faculty member in the discipline of Pharmacology. Rahman did his schooling from Darul-uloom Nadwatul Ulama at Lucknow and later studied at Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University.
He started his career as a Demonstrator in 1961 at Ajmal Khan Tibbiya College, Aligarh Muslim University. He was appointed reader in 1973 and professor in 1983. He served as the Chairman of the Department of Ilmul Advia for 18 years and retired as the Dean of the Faculty of Unani Medicine, Aligarh Muslim University.
