Hakim Syed Atiqul Qadir Biography 
Hakim Syed Atiqul Qadir was a noted Unani Physician who practiced in Tijara and Bhopal. He belonged to a family of Unani physicians who has given significant contributions to this field of Indian medical science. Hakim Syed Karam Husain was his father with whom, he started practice. His younger brother Hakim Syed Fazlur Rahman and nephew Hakim Syed Zillur Rahman were also eminent names in this field, the latest one belonging to this generation, being Syed Ziaur Rahman, who writes columns on subjects related to medicine. He was editor of ‘Masih-i Zaman’ and co-authored ‘Usool-e Sehat’ with his younger brother. He has been an active member of the Municipality of Tijara who took participation in the civic life of the city.
Qadir belonged to the family of Gardezi Sadaat, who practiced Unani traditionally. He was born in Tijara in 1909. He completed learning Quran by heart at the age of 11. His basic education was done at Alwar for 5 years, after the completion of Quran learning. He joined Bhupinder Tibbi College, Patiala in 1929 and obtained the degree ‘Haziqul Mulk’ in 1931. He started practicing Unani medicine with his father at Dawakhana Shifaul Amraz. After India partition in 1947, following the complete devastation of the whole region of Alwar and Tijara, the family moved to Bhopal where they got finally settled. Many of his close relatives’ and wife belonged to Bhopal. They also setup a new Dawakhana there, where they continued practising Unani.
Qadir was married to Aziza Begum. Qadir practiced Tibb in Bhopal till 1975. Then he moved to Aligarh and started fresh, aside his younger brother Hakim Syed Fazlur Rahman and nephew Hakim Syed Zillur Rahman. He performed Hajj with his family members in 1934.
