Guruprasad Biography

Guruprasad is a noted actor-director associated with Kannada film industry. He made his directorial debut with 2006 Kannada film – Mate, which received cult classic status. The movie was a major hit at box office too. His second film as a director - Eddelu Manjunatha was also well received by critics and audience alike. This director also does acting for films, apart from being closely associated with several reality shows on TV as a contestant and judge. He created a lot of controversies staying in the house of Bigg Boss Kannada 2 as a contestant. Director's Special (2013) and EradaNe Sala (2014) are other directorial ventures. He has completed one decade in the film industry.

He belongs to Kanakapura, Bangalore. He is a scientist turned film personality. He worked as a scientist in the Hindustan Lever before he decided to follow his passion and enter the film world. This director is known for making movies with realistic themes, and uses to portray them in a satire way. His realistic films have given him the tag of a successful director in Kannada film industry. His movies have received multiple nominations and awards at various award winning functions.

He received Filmfare best director award for his film Eddelu Manjunatha in 2009. The movie received 10 state film awards and Guruprasad bagged best director award. The director is known for giving the first break to actor Tabla Nani. In fact Nani made his acting debut with Guruprasad’s debut film Mata, followed by a pivot role in Eddelu Manjunatha. Most recently the director has announced a film with Tabla nani playing the lead role. The movie is titled Jugalbandi. The movie is scheduled to get release in 2017. He served as the judge for the TV shows - Thaka Dhimi Tha Dancing star and Putani pantru season 2.
