Gurleen Chopra Biography

Gurleen Chopra is a noted film actress and model who works in south Indian cinema as well as Bollywood. She has appeared in all south Indian language movies except Malayalam. She has also aceted in Bhojpuri and Punjabi, apart from Hindi. Chopra made her debut through Bollywood movie - Indian Babu, followed by Kuch To Gadbad Hai. But later she moved to south as she couldn’t make it big in Bollywood.

 
She is a Punjabi girl born in Mumbai on 16 July 1984 who started modelling at a younger age. She became Miss Chandigarh at a younger age of 16 or 17, while studying class 12. It was her friends’ suggestions to join modelling industry. Initially her parents were against her decision to join entertainment industry and Bollywood. However they agreed when she got a film offer by Lawrence D'Souza of Saajan and 100 Days fame.  She was paired with another debutant Jaz Pandher and supporting cast included Johnny Lever, Alok Nath and Mukesh Rishi. However the movie went unnoticed. Her second Bollywood movie, Kuch To Gadbad Hai was released in 2004.


In between she made her south Indian debut through 2003 Telugu movie, Ayudham and later worked in Tamil and Kannada film industry also. She played supporting role of Nisha Chauhan in Priyadarshan’s Bhagam Bhag, the movie heavily inspired from the Malayalam sequel of Ramji Rao Speaking (Hera Pheri in Hindi) – Mannar Mathai speaking. She played lead role in many Kannada movies like Vishnu Sena and Manmatha. Manmatha is the remake of Dileep - Navya Nair - Manya starrer Malayalam hit Kunjikoonam and she played a double role similar to its Tamil version, Perazhagan by Jyothika. Naane Ennul Illai was her last Tamil release in which she portrayed a supporting role.
