Guinness Pakru Biography

Anyone may wonder why ‘Guinness’ is added before an actor’s name. It’s because Pakru owns a record in Guinness books of world records. He is the shortest actor who has played a leading role in a full length feature film. His height is only 2 feet 6 inch, but he played the role of hero in the Malayalam movie Albhuthadeep (Wonder Island) in the year 2005. For his performance he was given special Jury awards by Kerala state film association and his record was entered in Guinness book in the year 2008. Not only that, the movie is significant is so many aspects. ‘Albhuthadeep’ is a movie that consists of 300 dwarfs – a unique record. The story tells about an island where all men are dwarfs and all females are of normal length. Obviously real dwarfs were used for the picturization of the movie in 2005. Pakru was the main hero of the movie, along with Pritviraj Sukumaran.

Before this record, people normally called him as Pakru or Unda Pakru, as he entered the industry with this name. But his real name is Ajay Kumar. He is a graduate and holds a diploma in computer science. Yet his passion in mimicry and his size prompted him to do stage shows. He was well appreciated for his talents and did a small role in the movie ‘Ambili Ammavan’ in 1985.

The movie Joker in 2000 gave him wide appreciation and very soon, he became busy in Malayalam film industry. He did comic roles in mega blockbusters of Dileep in the year 2002, the movies which made Dileep a superstar – Meesa Madhavan and Kunjikoonan. His roles were well appreciated and the beautifully choreographed song of Meesamadhavan, in which Pakru danced, was awarded for best choreography in V.Shantharam awards 2003.  Albhutha Dweep followed these movies and then he did numerous films in small roles.

He acted as father of Jayaram in the movie, ‘My big father’ and is one among the notable movies of his career as an actor. He did the role of a young leader in Sidhique’s movie ‘Body guard’. When this movie was remade to Tamil, he was given the same role. But he couldn’t adjust the dates during Hindi remake and the role was given to someone else. His other hits include Ezham Arivu, Ee pattanathil Bhootham, Puthiya Mukham, Loud speaker, My big father, Houseful and Emmanuvel. Most recently his debut movie as a director is released titled, ‘Kuttiyum kolum’, he acted in this movie as well.  

He married a girl of normal height - Gayathri in the year 2006. Actually she came forward to marry him. They lost their first kid soon after birth. But now they are blessed with a girl kid.
