Govind Menon Biography

Govind Menon is a composer, singer, and violinist in Malayalam and Tamil films, best known as the co-founder of Kerala’s most popular musical band - Thaikkudam Bridge, which gained attention in a short time. The popular band was formed by him and his cousin Siddharth Menon. Govind Menon has composed and sung songs for Malayalam movies like Thiruvambadi Thamban, vegam, 24 North Kaatham, Haram, Oru Pakka Kathai, 100 days of love etc. Yet he is known among fans as a member of Thaikkudam Bridge. Oru Pakka Kathai is his debut work in Tamil cinema and the movie is directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan. Govind has earlier done background score for Balaji’s debut film - Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom.

Govind Menon, along with his cousin Siddharth Menon used to practise in an apartment near Thaikkudam Bridge. That’s why they gave the name - Thaikkudam Bridge for their new band. The band is not restricted to a particular genre of music. Instead they pick the popular and evergreen songs to recompose and present them in a new style, which appeals both older and younger generations. Siddharth was earlier settled in Mumbai, but returned to south to study at Rahman’s school of music. He also participated in Sony TV’s X-Factor, where his team reached the finals.

He joined hands with Siddharth Menon. Govind Menon composed songs for the musical show "Music Mojo" in Kappa TV, a youth oriented channel. Govind also recreated evergreen Malayalam classics and named it ‘Nostalgia’. Siddharth sang "Mandharachepundo" of the movie Dasaratham, for one of the episodes and the rest in history! The song became viral over net and the cousin brothers formed the music band – Thaikkudam Bridge, which includes many artists right now.

Some of its members include - lead guitarist Mithun Raju, Ashok Nelson (rhythm guitars), Peethambaran Menon, Vipin Lal and Christi Jose as vocalists, Ruthin Thej (keyboards), Abin Thej (drums), Piyush Kapoor (vocalist and guitarist), Vian Fernandez (bass guitarist) and Krishna Bongane and Nila Madhav Mohapatra (Hindustani vocalists). Govind do violin and vocals and his sister Dhanya help him with the lyrics of ‘Fish Rock’.
