Goundamani Biography 
Goundamani is an Indian film actor and comedian performing in the films of Tamil language. He has paired with another popular comedian Senthil in many films. He started his acting career in 1977 and his career spans over 35 years.
Goundamani was born on 18th March 1950 in Valagundapuram near Udumalapettai in Coimbatore district of Tamil Nadu. His original name is Subramani. His father’s name is Karuppaiya and his mother’s name is Annam. He started his career as a theatre artist and from there he entered the film industry. He married Shanti and has two daughters Selvi and Sunita.
Though his original name was Subramani, he was commonly called Mani and his role in the drama Oor Gounder stuck to his name and came to be called Goundamani. His first film in Tamil was Annakkili released in 1976. He and Senthil are noted as the Laurel and Hardy of Tamil film industry. His vazhaipazham comedy in the film Karagattakaran was very famous among people.
His punch dialogue Arasiyalla Idhellaam Sagajamappa became very popular in those times. He was casted in protagonist role in the film Raja Enga Raja and Piranthen Valarnthen. He has also played the lead role in more than 10 films. His role in the film 16 Vayathinile with Rajinikanth got many positive reviews. He has acted in some double hero subject films as one of the heroes like Ullathai Allitha and Unakkaaga Ellaam Unakkaaga.
Goundamani has acted with many leading heroes of Tamil film industry such as Prabhu, Vijaykanth, Rajinikanth, Karthik, Sathyaraj, Ajith, Sarath Kumar, Vijay, Kamal Hassan, etc. He was in his peak times during 1990s and was one of the busiest actors of those days. Many of his comedy tracks were written by the writer A. Veerappan. After the death of the writer in 2005, no one else could makeup that excellence in dialogues for him and he started losing importance.
Goundamani has acted in nearly 500 films over 35 years. Some of his notable films include Sigappu Rojakkal, Payanangal Mudivathillai, Thoongaathe Thambi Thoongaathe, Vaidhegi Kathirundhal, Japanil Kalyanaraman, Kanni Raasi, Per Sollum Pillai, Karagattakaram, My Dear Marthandan, Nadigan, Raja Kopuram, Ennai Petha Raasa, Chinna Thambi, Singaravelan, Gentleman, Chinna Vathiyar, Coimbatore Maaple, Murai Maaman, Indian, Baba, Jaggu Bai, Kunguma Pottu Gounder, etc.
