Girish Kumar Biography

Girish Kumar is an Indian film actor who debut Bollywood in 2013 with romantic flick -Ramaiya Vastavaiya, opposite Shruti Hassan, directed by Prabhu Deva. He was launched by his father, Kumar S. Taurani, who is a film producer and the managing director of Tips Industries Limited. The movie was the official remake of 2002 Telugu movie, Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana which was made to Tamil as ‘Something Something’, Neenello Naanalle and Bengali as ‘I love you’. It was also made in Kannada, Oriya and Bangladesh versions. The movie has been inspired from two Salman Khan movies, Meine Pyar Kiya and Pyar kiya to darnakya. However the movie couldn’t replicate the success of its other versions and was declared average at box office. But its romantic song ‘Jeene Laga Hoon’ went viral on net and received more than 17 million hits on YouTube in the following days.

He was born on January 30, 1989 as the son of Kumar S. Taurani. Ramesh S. Tauraniis his uncle. Prabhu Deva signed Girish for Ramaiya Vastavaiya four years ago and gave him enough training to get prepared for the role. He also went through a screen test for this movie. He was given training in different types of dances, done by appointed choreographers. Girish also underwent body building training for three years as he was overweighed. Girish also developed six pack abs within 3 weeks for the role.

Though Prabhu Deva tried different options for his co-actress, Shruti Hassan was finally selected as she looked the most compatible. Ramaiya Vastavaiya was marketed well. But the movie failed to give an impulse on Hindi viewers, as it looked similar to the plots of Meine Pyar Kiya and Pyar kiya to darnakya, the formulae that have been made several times in Bollywood. The movie was compared to these Salman movies as well. He has received many film offers and his next release is Rani Tu Main Raja opposite Amrita Puri & Isha Koppikar. In this movie, he plays the role of Karan.
