G. K. Pillai Biography 
G Keshava Pillai, shortly called G. K. Pillai is a veteran actor of Malayalam Cinema who has spent more than 55 years in the industry. This legendary actor still appears in movies as well as television serials. He is known for handling character roles with ease, most notably police inspector roles as well as villain roles. He is one of the leading names in the movies made on the theme of 'Vadakkan Pattu’ and has been constantly featured in most of the movies based on the subject. He is an expert of marital art forms like Kalaripayattu and horse riding and use those talents in movies based on Vadakkan Pattukal, historical and mythological.
G. K. Pillai hails from Chirayinkeezhu, the same place where Malayalam’s ever green hero – Prem Nazir belonged to. He was born to Perumpaattathil Govindapillai and Saraswathi Amma in the year 1924. He married Ulpalakshiyamma and the couple had 6 kids. 1954 movie, Sneha seema marked his big screen debut. The lead role was played by Prem Nazir. Later throughout 1950’s, 1960’s and 1970’s, he worked with Nazir in numerous movies.
'Nayaru Pidicha Puli Vaal' of 1958 by Udaya studios was his first noted major work. He played noted roles in movies based on Vadakkan Pattukal - Unniyarcha, Thacholi Othenan, Othenante Makan, Aaromalunni, Kannappanunni and Kadathanattu Maakkam during 1960’s and 1970’s. Pillai once recollected from his memories that, in those days it was common that actors get minor injuries from the weapons used for picturing such movies, based on tales of Malabar heroes. At present he regularly appears in television serials. 'Kumkumapoovu' earned him a lot of accolades. 'Prem Nazir Award' and 'Ragamalika Jayan Award' are the major awards received by him.
He died on 30 January 2016.
