Faraaz Khan Biography

Faraaz Khan is an Indian actor associated with Bollywood who was active in the era of 1990s. He played lead role in Dulhan Banoo Mein Teri opposite Deepti Bhatnagar, Mehndi opposite Rani Mukherji and box office hit Fareb opposite Suman Ranganathan in the 1990s. In fact he was signed for the male lead of Meine Pyar Kiye, which later went to Salman Khan, and the rest is history. He was to mark his debut with Meine Pyar Kiye. But he fell seriously ill before the shooting began, and so got replaced by Salman Khan. The movie proved to be the landmark movie of Salman’s career. Faraaz Khan is the son of small time actor Yusuf Khan, best known for playing Zebisco, a bodyguard of Parveen Babi in Bollywood Blockbuster ‘Amar Akbar Antony’.

 

Faraaz Khan was born on 11 July 1974. His father passed away in 1984 when he was only 10 years old. His father Yusuf Khan has played memorable Christian roles such Zebisco in Amar Akbar Antony, Roxie in Karz and John Ragada in Bombay to Goa. All these movies are regarded as the landmark movies of Bollywood cinema. As a teenager Faraaz was signed for Rajshree Productions, Meine Pyar Kiye in the late 1980s. But due to health concerns he was replaced by Salman Khan. This actor generally maintains a low profile.

 

Faraaz later debut big screen in the second half of 1990s and got noticed for the few roles he played onscreen. Despite having a promising career after the success of Fareb in 1996, he couldn’t make it big in Bollywood. He played the negative role of Rani Mukherji’s husband in Mehndi. Though a woman centric film, Faraaz was noticed for his negative role. His Dulhan Banoo Mein Teri opposite Deepti Bhatnagar was a flop at box office, though its title track was a chartbuster. He starred in Sunil Shetty – Shilpa Shetty starrer Prithvi in 1997, as VK - a murder accused and kidnapper. He was later seen in the Bollywood films - Dil Ne Phir Yaad Kiya, Bazaar: Market of Love, Lust and Desire, Chand Bujh Gaya and most recently Ship of Theseus, where he portrayed the role of Vinay.
