Elahe Hiptoola Biography

Elahe Hiptoola is an actress, film producer and costume designer associated with Bollywood. Though born in Mumbai, she was brought up in Hyderabad. She has been the executive producer of several Bollywood movies like 3 Deewarein, Hyderabad Blues 2, Iqbal, and Dor. She has been associated with producer Nagesh Kukunoor for several movies. She has also done supporting roles in Bollywood movies like Iqbal, Aashayein, Morning Raga, Hyderabad blues, Bollywood calling etc. She is the founder of cultural center called Lamakaan in Hyderabad. Elahe was earlier married to Vidyut Jaisimha, the son of Indian cricketer, M. L. Jaisimha. They parted 2 years after marriage.


Her family shifted to Hyderabad when she was just 2 months old. She completed schooling at Nasr and later completed LLB from Government Law College, Mumbai. But she didn’t practise. She also learnt Horse Riding, Kathak, Piano etc. She set up the first fashion store in Hyderabad,"Elahe", which became quite successful. She sold the boutique in 1999 and moved to film industry. She has completed 15 years in film industry, with various roles.


She did the costume design for the movie – Iqbal and has produced movies mostly for Nagesh Kukunoor. Some of her movies as a film producer/co-producer include 8 x 10 Tasveer, Dhanak, Iqbal, Hyderabad Blues 2, Lakshmi, Mod, Rockford and many more. Parineeti Chopra, who played a Hyderabadi girl in Daawat-E-Ishq took formal training from her to get the required deccani accent for the movie. She is the founder of Lamakaan in Hyderabad, which promotes arts, literature, theatre, debate and many more.
