Ekta Chowdhry is a successful Indian model who won Pantaloons Femina Miss India Universe Title in the year 2009. She was crowned the winner of the Femina Miss India Universe title on April 5, 2009 at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai. Pooja Chopra and Shriya Kishore were crowned as the runner-ups. Ekta represented India at the Miss Universe 2009 competition on August 23, 2009 in Nassau, Bahamas. But she couldn’t manage to reach top 15 contestants. She was 22 years old when she participated in Miss Universe contest. She is the grand-daughter of Delhi's first chief minister Chaudhary Brahm Prakash Yadav.

She was brought up in Delhi. She won Femina Miss India Universe Title 2009 at the age of 22. Dance and music are her hobbies. She has been well supported by her parents for her modelling career. She was born into a family of politicians. Her paternal grandfather Chaudhary Brahm Prakash Yadav was a freedom fighter associated with Satyagraha Movement of Mahatma Gandhi and he became the first chief minister of independent India (1952-1955). He was known as an ace parliamentarian of the post-independent India in the 1950s. Her mother Rita Chaudhary is a businesswoman.

She was born in Varanasi, UP on March 31, 1986 and was brought up in Delhi. Ayaadnagar of Ghaziabad district in Uttar Pradesh is her native place. She has been living in Delhi for 22 years when she participated in Miss Universe contest. In Miss India Contest 2009, Ekta was hailed as ‘Indian face with a global personality’ by her fellow contestants. However she failed to make an impact in the Miss Universe Beauty pageant held at Bahamas. She worked hard till mid-night as a part of her preparations for the contest. She couldn’t even reach the top 15 contestants giving great disappointment to Indian dreams.
