Eeshwar Nivas Biography

Eeshwar Nivas, also known E. Nivas is a film director and screenwriter from Bollywood. He is best known for directing 1999 national award winning film, Shool, which gave a major break to Manoj Bajpayee as an actor. The film won best regional film in Hindi at National film awards. He also wrote the script for the movie. Love Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega (2001), Dum (2003), Bardaasht (2004), My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves (2008), De Taali (2008) and Total Siyapaa (2014) are the movies which he directed later. Currently he is working on an untitled script with Sidharth Malhotra and Radhika Apte, and the movie is expected to release in 2020.

E. Nivas hails from Hyderabad. He entered film industry in the 1990s. He is married to Priyanka. He started off as an assistant director in Telugu film industry in the 1990s, working under renowned film director Ram Gopal Varma, who acted as his mentor later. In fact Ram Gopal Varma also wrote some dialogues for E. Nivas’ directorial debut, Shool in 1999, which won him national award for best Hindi film. RGV is the only director with whom E. Nivas has worked with. When he started, he was the 12th assistant to RGV.

As of now he has directed 7 Bollywood films, yet he is yet to make big in direction field. His films have received only limited success in Bollywood. In 2008 he turned a film producer with My Name Is Anthony Gonsalves, and he scripted and directed the movie too. This soft spoken film director always keeps low key profile and he looks like the regular Hyderabadi you would meet on the street or at the shopping mall. The director wants to make a Tollywood film for his parents and friends.
