Duniya Vijay Biography

Duniya Vijay is a noted Kannada actor and producer. His noted films are Duniya (2006), Chanda (2007), Junglee (2009), Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam (2011) and most recently, Jayammana Maga (2013). He started his career as a junior artist and gave his major role through the movie Duniya in 2007 and later ‘Duniya’ tag got added to his name. He received nomination for best actor at 2nd South Indian International Movie Awards for his lead role in Bheema Theeradalli.

Vijay was born to a poor family in Anekal, Bangalore on January 20, 1974. He was a good athlete at school days and later became a gym instructor. He started his acting career through television serials and has also performed as stuntman in Kannada movies. During his struggling period, he has also done minor roles in movies. Yograj Bhat's Ranga SSLC was one of his earliest roles followed by Jogi, Shree and Ee Rajeev Gandhi Alla. When Soori made his directorial debut through Duniya, Vijay was casted in lead in a naive village boy role. Vijay went on to win the State and Filmfare awards for his role in the film, establishing him an actor.

Among the three releases of the year 2007, Yuga, Chanda and Geleya, the movie Chanda directed by S. Narayan made news. His clashes with director even resulted in the decision to impose one year ban on the actor.  After the intervention of "Karnataka Film Federation" elders, the ban was revoked. The movie was a huge hit at box-office too. His later releases are Avva, Slum Bala, Devru, Junglee and Thaakath. After 2010, critically acclaimed movies like Jarasandha, Johny Mera Naam Preethi Mera Kaam, Bheema Theeradalli and Veerabahu were released.
