Dr Chandra Mohan Gulhati Biography

Chandra Mohan Gulhati was born on October 18, 1940, at Karor, District Dera Ismail Khan, in the Punjab which has now gone to Pakistan after partition of India. DR. Chandra Mohan' family migrated to Indore during Partition and his early schooling was completed in Indore one of the main cities of Madhya Pradesh. 

His educational Background

He completed his MBBS from MGM Medical College, Indore, and was later awarded a post-graduate diploma from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and a Master of Science (in Internal Medicine) in examinations conducted by the Royal College of Physicians, UK. Dr Chandra Mohan Gulhati during his education was a leader in several university youth forums and took on leadership roles. 

As Student Leader

Some of his roles in student’s politics included as President of the Inter-College Student Union, Vikram University, Ujjain, as Vice President for International Affairs, National Students' Union of India, and Chairman of the National Student Press Council of India an association of campus newspapers. He was a delegate from India at the International Student Press Conference, Hamburg, and Germany. He also was Director of the Asian Press Bureau at the International Students' Council, Leiden in Netherlands.

His current activities

Dr Gulhati has been Editor, Monthly Index of Medical Specialties (MIMS), India, the book that lists all the medicines available in Indian market with their brand names as well as their basic salts and alternates for last 25 years. Dr Chandra Mohan Gulhati have been, and still continue to be active with clinical trials, marketing of medicines in India, drug pricing, and also involved with medical ethics and drug laws in India.

He has worked for the cause of medicines to be sold on their generic names which will bring their cost down to a great extent. He is Member of the Advisory Expert Panel set up by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare dealing with the H1N1 pandemic as it affected India recently and also the Member of the special Working Group on Spurious and Sub-standard Drugs set up on the advice of the Prime Minister. He is also on the panel of NDTV website as the drug expert and other related TV programs.
