Dolly Minhas Biography

Dolly Minhas is a model turned actress, who works in movies and television. She is the winner of Miss India 1989 beauty pageant which gave her break to movies. Though she represented India at Miss Universe beauty pageant, she was unplaced. A well-recognized face on both, television and films, ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’ was her last Bollywood release. She is associated with entertainment industry since 1990s and has played numerous character roles in Hindi and south Indian films. Yet she achieved success through television shows.

Dolly was born on 8 February 1968, in Chandigarh. She spent her childhood and teens in Chandigarh where she completed her studies. She rose to fame after winning the title of Miss India in 1989. She made her film debut through Dastoor in 1991 and fell in love with its director, Anil Mattoo. They got married very soon, yet she continued with movies. She has done character roles in Bollywood films like Kshatriya, Ab ke baras, Good Luck, Bombay dreams, Don Muthu Swami and most recently ‘Dil Dhadakne Do’. She has also acted in a few Punjabi and Kannada movies. She played parallel lead in the Kannada film - Rayaru Bandaru Mavana Manege in 1993, remake of Malayalam blockbuster Chitram.

Dolly played several noted character roles on small screen. Aisa Des Hai Mera in 2006 marked her television debut. She is currently seen in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon?...Ek Baar Phir. Baa Bahoo Aur Baby – is one of her earliest successful roles. Chintu Chinki Aur Ek Badi Si Love Story, Punar Vivah, Byaah Hamari Bahoo Ka, Qubool Hai, Behenein, Grihasti etc are a few more television roles. She played grey-shaded Veera in Star Plus' Grahasti, Tai - Mother of Birju (Amit Verma) in Baa Bahoo Aur Baby and Begum Mehrunissa Sheikh who is Armaan's Dadi in the longest running thriller-drama Qubool Hai on Zee TV.
