Deepak Dobriyal Biography

Deepak Dobriyal is a Bollywood actor and theatre artist known for supporting roles. He is a prominent artist of Delhi Theater. This actor is best known for playing negative shaded role of Saif Ali Khan’s sidekick in critically acclaimed movie – Omkara in 2006. The role earned him Filmfare Special Performance Award for the year 2006. His next noticed roles include Gulaal, Tanu Weds Manu and Blue Umbrella. He received Apsara Award for Best Performance in Comic Role in 2012 for the role of Pappa Jee he played in commercially successful movie - Tanu weds Manu. He also bagged Apsara Award for Best Performance In Negative Role in 2010 for the male antagonist he played in Gulaal.

 

He was born in a remote village of Pauri Garhwal in Uttarakhand state. At the age of 5, his family shifted to Delhi. He started his theater in the year 1994, where he got opportunity to work with prominent theatre artist – Arvind gaur. Desire under the Elms, Rakt Kalyan, Tughlaq, Andha Yug and Ek Mamooli Aadmi are among his noted roles under this renowned theater personality. He reached Mumbai in 2001 and managed to get only bit roles in Bollywood for a few years till Omkara happened in 2006. Vishal Bharadwaj gave him the big break to Bollywood in the form of Omkara.

 

He played lead roles in two films. He played lead hero role in one of the short films of anthology – Mumbai Cutting. The second one is Kundan Shah’s silent 10-minute short film. This short film is dedicated to the train commuter, Mumbai’s unsung hero. Not a love story, 3 B and Delhi 6 are a few more Bollywood appearances.
