Darshan Biography

Darshan is a popular actor and producer from Kannada movies. His full name is Darshan Thoogudeep. Darshan is credited as the tallest south Indian actor with a height of 6'3. He is the son of character actor of yesterdays’, Thoogudeepa Srinivas, who got instant fame with the movie, Thoogudeepa. He debut big screen in the year 2001 and owns many hit films in his account. His hit and noticed movies are Kariya (2003), Namma Preethiya Ramu (2003), Gaja (2008), Saarathi (2011), Chingari (2012) Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (2012) Bulbul (2013) and Brindavana (2013). Darshan has a huge fan following in Karnataka and accredited by fans as D Boss.

Darshan was born in Mysore in the year 1977 as the son of actor Thoogudeepa Srinivas and Meena Thoogudeepa. His younger brother Dinakar Thoogudeep is a film director. His education was completed in Mysore and appeared in television before entering movies. He played bit roles in numerous movies before gaining big roles in Kannada movies. He played supporting roles in Devara Maga and Bhootayyana Makkalu, both released in 2000. Darshan's first major break came with the film Majestic released in 2001. After this movie, he got many film offers like Dhruva, Ninagoskara and Kitti where he played lead role.

Later he appeared in a string of movies like Kariya, Lankesh Patrike, Namma Preethiya Ramu, Kalasipalya, Chingari and Daasa. In 2006, he made a cameo appearance in his first home production Jothe Jotheyali. Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna, released in 2012 was one of the big releases which proved Darshan as a good actor. He received his first Filmfare award for best actor through this movie. His latest release was Babul, released in May 2013 under his home production. Darshan empire also wons a distribution company called Toogudeepa Distributors. On 9 September 2011, Darshan was arrested on the charges of torturing and beating his wife and his co-actor Nikita Thukral was reportedly banned for 3 years for causing "marital discord" in Darshan's family, though the ban was lifted later.
