Daniel Annie Pope Biography

Daniel Annie Pope is a character artist associated with Tamil movies. He is best known for his comic roles. Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara, Maragadha Naanayam, Rowthiram, Rangoon etc are some of his appearances. Now a well-known face of Tamil cinema, Daniel is busy with his upcoming projects - China, Thittam Poattu Thirudura Kootam, Kaathadi, Aayirathil Iruvar, Vada Chennai, Oru Nalla Naal Paathu Solren etc. He is also a professional stage actor with more than 10 years of experience in this field. He has also done street plays.

Daniel hails from Madurantakam, Tamil Nadu. He studied Visual Communications at Loyola College, Chennai. Since college days he was quite active with theater. Acting was always his dream and passion. He was also associated with writer Yani's Pariksha group during his college days in Chennai. He achieved a Guinness record for longest theatre play for 72 hours without break in 2007. It took two years of rigour training to attempt this achievement. He also taught stage plays and mimes in school. He won the title of Best Mimer in South Indian in 2008. By that time he started trying his luck in Tamil cinema, and did minor roles since 2007.

He was first seen in Polladhavan in 2007, followed by Payya and Rowthiram. But the roles were not so significant. He got his first credited role in the year 2013 for the comedy film, Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara starring Vijay Sethupathi. He played the character role of Romba Sumaar Moonji in the film and the film’s success bagged him more comic roles in Tamil films. His dialogues in the film became an instant hit. Now Daniel is an entertainer and known for his comedy roles onscreen.

Before gaining attention on silver screen, he had a brief stint in television as well. He worked as a television program producer in Vasanth TV for "Aadu - Maatuna Briyani Thaan” and later worked as creative program producer for several channels before he bagged his first noticed role in Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara. There was no turning back after that.
