Chandralekha Biography 
Chandralekha is the latest music sensation of Kerala, whose song ‘Rajahamsame’ has already gone viral over the net, not only in Kerala, but across India. Her story is nothing less than the fairy tale of Cinderella! Chandralekha belongs to Vadaserikkara village in Adoor of Pathanamthitta district of Kerala, a poor housewife. Her husband’s nephew recorded her voice in his mobile phone last year saying that whole world will notice her voice. He uploaded this video on September 22, 2012. Nothing happened for the last one year. Suddenly in second week of October 2013, this video recorded from dilapidated kitchen went viral over net resulting in 3 lakh shares in Face book in just 3 days that resulted in lakhs of hits in her uploaded music video. Now she is the latest music sensation and has got offers not only in Malayalam, but also in Tamil movies. She has already recorded a few songs as a playback singer.
Chandralekha is at present 32 years old and a housewife. She belongs to a lower class family and the particular video was shot by her cousin in her kitchen and she carries her son in her hand while singing the song. Most surprising is that though her voice was not recorded using any other recording instruments, it touches listener’s soul and now, her voice is heard throughout India. Very soon, television channels made it news and telecasted her interviews along with the video. It made her video more popular. Kairali TV gave opportunity to Chandralekha to talk to K. S. Chitra over phone, for their program. The song ‘Rajahamsame’ was originally sung by Chitra for the movie Chamayam, for which she won Kerala State award for best singer. Chandralekha burst into tears hearing the appreciation and encouraging words of her role model. Chitra even commented that today or tomorrow A. R. Rahman will definitely give a chance to sing, as he is impressed by such new talents.
More than 5 music directors from Kerala including Bijipal and Rathish Veda have already given her a chance to sing in their movies. It was Chandralekha’s ‘mad dream’ to become a playback singer though her poor economic conditions didn’t give her a chance. She was a part of music coir while at college. When social networking sites and You tube are used for many wrong causes, Chandralekha’s life is just one instance when we can definitely gave new definitions to social media! This simple casual song has definitely changed her life!
