Chandra Mohan Biography

Chandra Mohan is a Telugu film actor who has portrayed lead roles, supporting roles and also comic roles. Many successful south Indian heroines who made it big in Bollywood started their successful career opposite Chandra Mohan in south. Among those actresses Sridevi and Jayaprada needs special mention. Padaharella Vayasu (1978) and Siri Siri Muvva (1976) are those commercial hit movies of Sridevi and Jaya Pradha respectively. Seethamalakshmi, Radha Kalyanam, Rendrendlu Aaru, Chandamama Raave and Ram Robert Rahim are among his noted movies as male protagonist. Famous film director K. Viswanath is his cousin.

He was born in a small village Pammidimukkala of Krishna district in Andhra Pradesh. He was born on May 23, 1943. He completed graduation from agriculture college of Bapatla. He made his film debut through 1966 movie - Rangula Ratnam directed by B. N. Reddy. He played parallel lead in this movie aside Ram Mohan, Vanisri and Sukanya. The film won National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu as well as golden Nandi awards. Anjali Devi played mother’s role in this movie and since then a strong bond formed between Chandra Mohan and Anjali Devi. Anjali played mother’s role in many of his movies later. The movie was a commercial hit. Yet he appeared mostly in small roles and cameo appearances in most of the movies for a brief period.

Slowly he became an established actor of Tollywood and owns credits of many hit movies as a hero. Later he moved towards character roles as well as comic roles. He received Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu) for Padaharella Vayasu in 1978 - a remake of the Tamil Super hit 16 Vayathinile with stars - Kamal Hassan, Rajinikanth and Sridevi. He reprised the lead role played by Kamal Hassan in this movie, while Sridevi did the same role again.
