Catherine Tresa Biography

Catherine Tresa is a South Indian actress and famous model. She has worked in Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu movies. Katherine was born to Malayali catholic parents in 10 September 1989. She was born and brought up in Dubai. Her birth name is Catherine Tresa Alexandar. She is not fluent in Malayalam. But she can speak Hindi and English fluently. Now she has started learning Telugu as well. Till grade 12, she did her studies at Dubai and later shifted to Bangalore.

Catherine moved to Bangalore to do higher education. She studied for two years in St. Joseph's College, Bangalore. Sideways, she has also learnt to play a musical instruments, sing and dance. She has walked on ramp in many fashion shows with Prasad Bipada and has appeared in many television ads as well. Her popular ads are Nalli Silks, Chennai Silks, Fast Track, Josco Jewellers and Deccan Chronicle. She has also shot for Srikantadatta Wodeyar's Maharaja Calendar.

She debut movies with Kannada film Shankar IPS opposite Duniya Vijay. The thriller was her debut movie in Malayalam where she was paired opposite youth sensation Pritviraj Sukumaran. Her character name was Meera in this movie released in the year 2010. This Malayalam thriller film written and directed by B. Unnikrishnan got mixed to positive reports from the critics. However the movie flopped at box office.

In the year 2011, she has only one release – Vishnu, a Kannada movie. In 2012, the Kannada movie, Godfather was released. Till now, it’s the best performance of Catherine as an actress and for her excellent performance, she was nominated for Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress – Kannada. The film is remake of the 2006 Tamil blockbuster Varalaru that starred Ajith Kumar, Asin Thottumkal and Kanika Subramaniam in the lead roles. Catherine reprised the role of Kanika Subramaniam in this movie and Godfather successful ran for 50 days in theatres.

Following the success of Godfather, she began to get good offers. In 2013, two Telugu movies were released – Chammak chalo and Iddarammayilatho. She played the role of Akansha in the movie – Iddarammayilatho and her character name was Sunaina in Chammak Chalo.
