C. V. Pappachan Biography 
C. V. Pappachan is a former football player and captain of Indian Football team. In a career spanning over a decade, Pappachan has played for several clubs. He played as striker representing Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur and Calicut University for many tournaments too. He is a native of Thrissur. A top player of 1980s, he played till mid-1990s. He played eight times for Kerala State in the prestigious Santhosh Trophy from 1986 to 1996. He was one among the members of the winning team of Kerala of Santhosh Tropy tournament held at Coimbatore in 1992 and at Kochi the following year. He has played several semifinals and finals of Santhosh trophy in between 1986 and 1996. In 1987, he was also a member of the team which won national games.
Pappachan belongs to Parappur in Thrissur district. He was born in the year 1965. During his early days he played with several local clubs followed by Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur and Calicut University, where he completed his studies. He entered the professional career in the year 1982 as a member of Kerala police. He was already recruited in Kerala police after studies, before his entry to active sports. He played for Kerala Police team during 1982-1998 and the next one year he was associated with F C Cochin, a leading football club of Kerala.
He has also played in the national level and represented India at SAF games (1987, 1989, 1990), Nehru Cup Kozhikode in 1987, Nehru Cup, Thiruvananthapuram in 1991, Pre World Cup, Eligibility Match held at Beirut, Korea in 1993 and Super Soccer Series in 1991. He was a team member of Indian football team which won Bristol Freedom Cup in Sri Lanka in the year 1994. He is also a Panchari Melam artist, associated with temple festivals of Kerala. In 1996 he won the prestigious Jimmy George Award. He has been awarded best player award many times.
