C. Raveendranath Biography

C. Raveendranath is a prominent political leader associated with LDF, Kerala. He represents CPI (M). He currently serves as Minister of Education in the recently elected State Assembly headed by Pinarai Vijayan. He successfully conducted 2016 state assembly elections and defeated Sundaran Kunnathully of Indian National Congress by a huge margin of 38478. It was for the third time he got elected to state assembly and this time he represented Puthukkad constituency of Thrissur district. A first time minister, he became one among the three cabinet ministers from Thrissur district, the other two being A. C. Moideen and V. S. Sunil Kumar. He is the last MLA of Kodakara constituency and the first from the newly formed Puthukad.

He was born at Cheranallur of Thrissur district on 22 November 1955. K. Peethambaran Kartha and C. Lekshmikutty Elayamma are his parents. His education was completed in Thrissur and he holds a Master’s degree. After completion of studies, he started his profession as a lecturer at college and worked as a professor in St. Thomas College, Thrissur before he became fully active with politics. Currently he is an Area Committee Member and is also associated with the association, Kerala Sastra Sahithya Parishad and served as its vice president.

Raveendranath is also a writer and he has published three books till now - Navalibaral athava Drurithangalude Nayam, ASEAN Kararinte Yatharthyangal and Niyamasabhaprasangangal. A great lover of elephants, cycling is his hobby. He is married to Vijayam. M. K and the couple has one son and one daughter. As an elected MLA from Puthukkad previous term, his development activities attracted nationwide attention. He was previously elected to KLA in 2006.In 2016 state assembly elections he defeated Sundaran Kunnathully of INC.
