Boney Kapoor Biography

Boney Kapoor is a famous producer and director of Bollywood who has given significant contributions to Hindi cinema. His family is filled with Bollywood stars. He is the son of the film producer, late Surinder Kapoor. His wife is the queen of Bollywood who dominated the industry till late 80’s and 90’s too. She is Sri Devi. His younger brothers are Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor, stars of Bollywood. His nephew, Sonam Kapoor is a top heroine of Bollywood at present. His first son, Arjun Kapoor born from his first wedding (Mona Shourie Kapoor) has also entered Bollywood most recently.

Boney Kapoor is the producer of blockbuster hits like Mr.India, directed by Shekar Kapur, Pukar and Wanted. During 80’s and 90’s, Boney Kapoor-Anil Kapoor combination movies have created magic onscreen. Their big hits are Mr.India, Pukar, Judai, No entry and Loafer. He has acted as the executive producer of Anil Kapoor-Aiswarya Rai movie, Hamara Dil Aapke Paas Hai and Woh saat din, one among the earliest blockbuster hits of Anil Kapoor. They also own a few flop movies in the list of which Roop ki rani chorom ka raja comes at the top. Bewafa was a moderate hit. Satish Kaushik has worked for many of their movies as an actor and director.

It’s also to be noted that many of the movies acted by Anil Kapoor and Sri Devi were produced by Boney Kapoor. Mr.India is the biggest hit of this combination while Roop ki rani chorom ka raja was the biggest flop, though released with many expectations. Her last movie, before marriage was Judai, obviously produced by her husband. He has also financed debut movie of his younger brother, Sanjay Kapoor – Prem and a few more movies like Sirf Tum and Koi mere dil se pooche.

Boney Kapoor entered Bollywood as an executive producer during early 80’s. Hum paanch and Woh saat din belong to the first half of the decade. Then he slowly stepped into production and has done delivered numerous success and flopped movies.  His other movies as a producer include Kyon ho gaya na, Shakthi (2002), Drohi, Company and Bewafa. Now he is working on the sequels of Mr.India and Wanted.
