Bobby Darling Biography

Bobby Darling is an Indian trans-woman actress who works in Bollywood in supporting role. Before transitioning she appeared in 18 movies in gay roles and entered her name in Limca Book of Records and she was only 23 year old then. She came to limelight for the first time with the first season of controversial and popular show of Colors TV – Bigg Boss, where she appeared as one among the contestants. Darling was also the first person representing sexuality minorities in the show. In 2005, she received Best Supporting Actor/Actress award at Monaco International Film Festival for the role she played in Navarasa. She considers herself to be a woman, not gay.

 

She was born as Pankaj Sharma in Delhi. Right from the childhood, she faced problems with her family due to her sexual orientation. She was a homosexual since childhood. She appeared on the reality show Sacch Ka Saamna and later it helped to reunite with her father. She underwent surgery for breast implant in 2010. She has been a vocal supporter of LGBT rights. The actor was arrested along with other revellers at a 'gay party' in Mumbai in 2011 and she has expressed her views why society and police keep distance from gay people. Actually she was unaware that it was a gay party and Bobby never attends such parties, have a soft corner for transgenders. She says she is not at all a gay and that she considers herself to be a girl.

 

As a Bollywood actor, her noted roles are Page 3, Fashion, Problem Mein Phas Gaya Yaar, Apartment, Chalte Chalte, Kyaa Kool Hai Hum, Tom Dick And Harry, Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai, Mr. White Mr. Black, Tauba tauba and Apna Sapna Money Money. Most recently she appeared in the song, Drama Queen of 2014 release - Hasee Toh Phasee.
