Bipasha Basu Biography

Bipasha Basu is a famous Indian actress who is mainly appearing in the Hindi films. She is a former model who acted in advertisements and also the winner of the Ford`s Godrej Cinthol Supermodel contest in 1996. She was born on 7th January 1979 in New Delhi. She stated in an interview that she had initially planned to study medicine, but stepped in modeling and later acting accidentally.

 

She has an elder sister and a younger sister named Bidisha and Vijayeta. She finished her schoolings in Bhavan`s Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir. She pursued her bachelor degree in Commerce at The Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society College, affiliated to Calcutta University. After she won the Ford Godrej Cinthol contest, she went to New York by the Ford Company.

 

In New York, she became a successful supermodel at the age of 17. She debuted in Abbas Mustan`s  Ajnabee with Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol and Kareena Kapoor in which she played a role of a married woman. In 2002, she starred in the Telugu movie Takkari Donga and Raaz. Raaz was a super - duper hit and was the biggest commercial success of that year.

 

She starred herself in the film Race with Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Anil Kapoor and Katrina Kaif in 2008. This film was a box office hit and she was appreciated by critics for her fair performance. She appeared in the film Bachna Ae Haseeno and Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in the song Phir Milenge Chalte Chalte in the same year. She also did Tu for Kismat, Sonu Nigam`s album and a music video Stolen for Jay Sean.

 

She did fitness video of Eros called Bollywood Bodies in coordination with John Abraham in 2008. She was in a relationship with actor John Abraham. They were frequently called as the super couple in the Indian media. Previously, she braked off her relationship with Bollywood actor Dino Morea in 2001.

 

 She received the Filmfare Best Female Debut Award for Ajnabee in 2001. She was nominated Filmfare Best Actress Award for Raaz in 2002 and Corporate in 2006. She was also nominated for Filmfare Best Villain Award for Jism in 2003 and Filmfare Best supporting actress award for No Entry in 2005 and Bachna Ae Haseeno in 2008.
