Binoy Job Biography

Binoy Job is a journalist who currently serves as the Director of Media and Communications in the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s Office, Delhi and has been in this position since 2009. He was chosen as "Young Global Leader" by the World Economic Forum in 2012. Before joining Prime Minister’s Office, he has been associated with many social initiatives related to IT and youth innovative. His social innovations include Leaders For Tomorrow Foundation (LFT), www.developmentchannel.org– First ever portal dedicated for development news, i-CORD - The Institute for Community Media, Rural Reporting and Development Journalism, Igniting Young Minds (IYM), Reporters For Tomorrow (RFT), Development Festival and 101 Leaders. He has served all the executive posts and positions of these innovations before being inducted to PMO.

 

Binoy was born on December 8, 1974 at Kainakary, Kuttanad, Alappuzha district of Kerala state. He has worked as a journalist with New Delhi Television (NDTV) before started working full-time on social initiatives. He has worked with NDTV’s two news channels-NDTV 24X7 and NDTV INDIA, right from inception and also with Star News. He is a well-respected and well reputed personality in the field of Indian journalism at present. Binoy Job is a Visiting Faculty of Television Journalism at Delhi University and various media institutes.

 

Binoy Job quit NDTV soon after the 2009 general elections. His aim was to create a forum for Television Channels with aim, "Television For Social Change". In a short period, he was able to bring many Editors from various news media organizations, to this not-for-profit forum. He was chosen as one of Asia 21 Young Leaders by Asia Society in 2010 and selected as "Young Global Leader" by the World Economic Forum in 2012.
